Meeting the standards of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations of 1981, this course is geared towards those who wish to gain formal recognition of their medical knowledge, understanding and skills of first aid in the workplace. As the next level from the IQ Level 2 Award, this course aims to equip learners with more specific knowledge, skills or understanding of already known subject areas, all the while meeting relevant programmes of learning and therefore enabling them to move on to a full-time role in the workplace.
This highly versatile qualification is applicable in almost any industry, as UK law requires all employers to have First Aid provisions for their employees. Over the course of three days, learners will complete two mandatory units that cover every aspect of basic First Aid, including assignation of medical roles and responsibilities in day-to-day office operation. When emergencies do arise, delegates will be instructed on how to conduct initial assessments before administering assistance to the casualty. This assistance covers incidents of choking or other breathing difficulties, bleeding, shock, burns, scalds, poisoning, illness and anaphylaxis, as well as a range of other minor injuries. This qualification is valid for 3 years, and learners must re-qualify prior to their certificate’s expiry date.
