General Security Awareness Training

This qualification is aimed at those without formal security training, and gives learners a basic understanding of airport security. The course is four hours long. The EU and Department for Transport require this qualification for any airport staff working in a restricted or controlled environment, and it is a mandatory requirement for candidates to receive an airport pass, along with completing Criminal Records Check. The qualification is valid for five years, after which it has to be renewed by retaking the course.

Learner must be aspiring to or already employed in the relevant training role

Every Aviation Security course that Nightingale offers requires the learner to be employed in the role with the training need. Further to this, the employer must provide a security declaration before the training can begin. All courses are certificated and require regular (though not frequent) refresher training after a given period of time has elapsed.
